Safety program

Safety first, stated as a procedure rather than a slogan.

Every carrier says safety first. What separates them is whether there is a written procedure behind it and whether anyone follows it on a wet Tuesday at 4am.

Before the run

Pre-trip inspection on every departure. Coupling and fifth wheel procedure verified. Hours of service checked against the driver's available window before dispatch, not after.

During the run

Motive ELD enforces the clock in every truck. Motive and Lytx event recorders capture hard braking, following distance and distraction. Roadside assistance and dispatch are one call away, around the clock.

After the run

Post-trip inspection logged. Defects routed to the shop the same day. Events pulled from the recorders are reviewed with the driver as coaching, not as a file entry.

Driver qualification
Class A CDL, verified experience, MVR and PSP review, DOT physical and drug screening under the federal program.
Ongoing training
Converter dolly and doubles coupling, fifth wheel reset, parked regeneration, tire and tread standards, winter operation over the mountain passes. Doubles get the most attention because they carry the most risk.
Speed governance
Power units governed to 65 mph.
Collision mitigation
Newer power units carry radar and camera based collision mitigation with lane departure warning and adaptive cruise.
Incident procedure
A written reporting path for accidents, injuries, near misses and citations, available to drivers on any device through the driver portal.
Equipment standards
Preventive maintenance on manufacturer-schedule intervals, tracked per unit in Motive rather than per complaint. A unit that fails inspection does not dispatch, regardless of the load.
Policy
A written driver handbook covering conduct, hours, safety procedure and reporting, issued and acknowledged at hire.
